How the Ticket Desk works

You're a technician at Rafiki's IT Services. Tickets arrive in the queue on the left, from the most common home problems to the harder ones. Each ticket builds the client's house and network fresh, with its fault already in it, so "Try another one like this" gives you new addresses, ports and details.

  1. Read the ticket. The client's words often hold the clue.
  2. Gather the evidence. Open the devices: run commands on the computers, read the lights, open the router's pages, look at the cables. Your notebook writes down what you find.
  3. Diagnose. Pick what's really wrong. Wrong picks stay marked, and Mason helps after the third.
  4. Fix it at the source, on the device where the problem really is.
  5. Prove it works, with a command that shows it.

Help

Working a ticket: read the ticket, gather evidence from the devices, pick what's really wrong, fix it at the source, then prove it works. Open a device from the network map, the floor plan (Physical) or the buttons above the terminal.

How help works: wrong picks 1 and 2, nothing; pick 3, Mason says where to look; pick 4, the principle that decides it; pick 5 and after, he narrows it to two, each option he strikes with its reason. He never names the answer. In the fix stage, "Ask Mason about the fix" climbs the same way.
